The ANSYS DesignModeler application is designed to be used as a geometry editor of existing CAD models. The ANSYS DesignModeler application is a parametric feature-based solid modeler designed so that you can intuitively and quickly begin drawing 2D sketches, modeling 3D parts, or uploading 3D CAD models for engineering analysis preprocessing.
If you have never used a parametric solid modeler, you will find the ANSYS DesignModeler application easy to learn and use. If you are an experienced user in parametric modeling, the ANSYS DesignModeler application offers you the functionality and power you need to convert 2D sketches of lines, arcs, and splines into 3D models.
In this tutorial we will use tools that we have learned in previous tutorials. First we will import a geometry from Autodesk Inventor and then we will use Slice and the Freeze and unfreeze tools.

Ansys Fluent Tutorial | Heatsink
In this tutorial, you will learn how to simulate a Heatsink using Ansys Fluent. In this first video, you will see how to create the geometry and the mesh using DesignModeler, Ansys Meshing and Ansys Fluent.

Ansys DesignModeler – Tetrakaidecahedron
A tetradecahedron is a polyhedron with 14 faces. There are numerous topologically distinct forms of a tetradecahedron, with many constructible entirely with regular polygon faces.

Ansys DesignModeler – Ansys Beta Options (Solid Extension)
By default, System Coupling’s beta features are not activated. When beta features are activated, the corresponding settings are added to the data model and are available for use.
Ansys DesignModeler – Thin/Surface
The Thin/Surface feature allows you to convert solids into thin solids or surfaces. The feature can operate on both active and frozen bodies. Typically, you will select the faces to remove, and then specify a face offset that is greater than or equal to zero (>=0).
Ansys DesignModeler – Import from SOLIDWORKS to DesignModeler
Some import types (ACIS and AutoCAD) allow you to specify the units of the imported model. Before clicking Generate, you may be able to change the model units from the Details View, depending on the type of import. Note that some model types store their units, so no Model Units property will appear when importing them.
Ansys DesignModeler – Import from Autodesk Inventor to ANSYS Design Modeler directly
Use the Open command to open files created in any supported format. Use the Save As command to export parts, assemblies, drawing sheets, and 3D markups to formats read by other applications. Your license type determines which of these actions are supported.
